As a smaller program you get to know both the residents and attendings really well. It feels like a family, and we all have each other's best interests at heart on both an academic and personal level." I chose the UC PM&R program because of the close-knit bond of the residents I experienced on interview day, the strong reputation in the program for MSK and EMG, and the success of the graduates in a wide array of sub-specialty areas upon graduation." |
I knew that the program directors and attendings had our best interest at heart 100% of the time. The first priority is always our learning and making sure we have the best learning opportunities at our disposal, even if that means the attending has to write the progress notes that day. Most importantly the residents were all super cool and people I wanted to be around both inside and outside the hospital. " |
Engaging faculty, driven colleagues, and opportunities to pursue my interests." "Strong didactic component. Access to procedures. Small family- like environment. AND Mary is simply the best coordinator in the business." |
It seemed like the perfect academic institution at which to pursue my clinical interests in Outpatient Neurorehab. I especially appreciated the unique positioning of our division in the larger Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, which provides ample opportunities to collaborate with Neurologists!"
Number one is obviously how cool the residents are. Everyone has a great sense of humor and most importantly can appreciate a good sarcastic joke. We also have incredible MSK and ultrasound opportunities, great teachers in all areas of PM&R despite being a smaller program, and fantastic exposure to pediatric rehab at the world-renowned Cincinnati Children's!"
The residents are fantastic and always have each others' backs! It was also great to have the PGY1 year built in at UC. The internal medicine residents and attendings are wonderful too, and I felt very supported and well equipped during my intern year. And the cost of living in Cincinnati can't be beat!" |
It’s such a collegial place to work. I love how we all pitch in to help one another whenever there’s a need. I deeply value the respect that our faculty give to one another and especially to the residents. And because I love being surrounded by other intelligent people eager to continue learning... the heart of academic medicine. If I had the choice to make again, I’d join UC PM&R in a heartbeat!" |
